This course is all about paper, and how one can create unique paper sculptures. We will create many interesting projects, sometimes building and finishing upon the previous week. We will make paper sculptures that hang from the ceiling such as mobiles, and make paper lamps, bowls, masks using paper mâché . We will also explore different forms of origami and actually make own paper as well. Materials will be simple; however, it is advised to look ahead at the list of supplies for each week in advance to make sure your child is prepared and set-up for success for the project. I will have a detailed list available for supplies and materials needed upon registration for this class. Please note that I use 2 computers and request each learner to be able to have their view setting on " gallery view" during out class sessions. Please check in advance if your computer or viewing device has this option. Parental Guidance is suggested for use of scissors Here are the following weekly projects & materials: Week 1: Project: Paper Mâché Animal- part I Materials: round balloon blown & tied, paper strips, flour & water paste, acrylic paints, water to rinse, paint brushes Week 2: Project: Completion of Paper Mâché Animal- part II Materials: acrylic paints, water to rinse, paint brushes, modge-podge Week 3: Project: Artisan Bowls Materials: plastic or metal bowl for the mold, thin paper strips, tissue paper, glue and water, modge-podge Week 4: Project: Origami Sculpture Materials: origami paper, ruler Week 5: Project: Paper Lamps- part I Materials: balloon blown and tied, bowl for it to rest in, thin paper strips, glue, water, paintbrush, white acrylic paint Week 6: Project: Paper Lamps- part II Materials: completion of project- modge-podge, botanical items such as flower, fern tops, leaves, hole puncher, wire to hang the lamp, battered operate tea light Week 7: Project: Origami Sculpture Materials: Origami paper, ruler Week 8: Project: Home -made Paper Materials: Paper-Paper-Paper! water, screen mesh, botanical bits, glitter * all optional* Week 9: Project: Paper Masks- Part I Materials: paper plate, tape, paper strips, tinfoil, paper mâché, water and glue Week 10: Project: Paper Masks- Part II Materials: Completion of masks, acrylic paint, modge-podge, paint brushes, water to rinse

Parental Guidance
Please make sure in advance that your device has the ability to be set to " gallery view " on zoom. I use 2 cameras so that class participants can see me working as well as see me talking to them.
Please check in advance the supplies and materials needed for the class session
Please be prepared to help your child with using scissors if needed for some sessions.
Supply List
Basic supplies and materials are used in every class session such as paper, tape, glue-stick, ruler. I will have a detailed material list available in the classroom upon registration. There will also be a recipe list for the paper mâché, and a glue recipe

I have a Master Degree in Early Childhood/Primary Education and a Bachelor Degree in Child Development, active in the field for several decades. I am also a National Geographic Certified Educator, and certified to teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP). Also, I am TESOL certified, teaching English as a Second Language. I am the Founder of Connecting Children to Art in Nature; educational business that offer children and families services to connect to nature in artful and eco-friendly formats and perspectives. I create educational design and curriculum for youth and families for botanical gardens, children's schools, private and public settings, nature centers, as well as lecture in universities and colleges presenting professional development workshops for educators. My class offerings on Outschool are inspired by various pedagogies such as the Reggio-Emilia and Waldorf practices and place-based, best practices in environmental education.
