Class Experience

Hello! Thank you for your interest in my iris folding class. Iris folding is a paper craft that is thought to have started in Holland in the 20th century. Strips of paper are taped to the back of a stencil in an overlapping spiral pattern. The spiral pattern resembles the iris of a camera lens, thus the name. I will provide a few patterns and stencils for learners to print and use, and I will also teach the students how to create their own patterns and stencils.  To be successful, learners...

Scissors
clear tape
5 different colors of paper (2-4 sheets each)
painters tape, masking tape, or any other low tack tape
2-3 printed copies of the square iris folding template
2-3 printed copies of the stencil your student wants to use

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
