In this class, students will learn about circuits and how they work. They will create a working paper circuit with an LED light and then incorporate that light into an artwork. We'll start class by discussing what circuits are and how they work. We'll learn why we need to use a conductive tape like copper tape for the battery to complete the circuit and light the LED light. Learners will then create their circuit and we'll discuss what we are doing as we work in order to troubleshoot any encountered issues. Once learners have a working circuit, they will decide how they will incorporate their light into their finished artwork. We will discuss our work as we create. Once learners have finished their artwork, we will celebrate what we learned and share our finished artwork. As a note, I am happy to teach to single learners and I do not cancel due to low enrollment.
Learning Goals
Students will understand what a circuit is and create an artwork that incorporates a working paper circuit.

Master's Degree in Education from Hollins University
I am a current art teacher and I am interested in how technology and art can be combined to create new artwork. I teach classes using traditional media like paint and colored pencil, but I've also taught young learners how to use clay, cameras, and computers to create an animation. We've also created artwork that lights up using a paper circuit and a class on robotics! I am also interested in theater, history, and science. I have been an art teacher for 15 years now, having completed a B.S. in art education and a Master of Arts in teaching with endorsements in art, middle school English, and science. I believe every student is capable and creative. I think that there's no limit to what a student can do once they are shown the basics and allowed to let their imagination run wild. I also support all kinds of learners and strive to make my classroom a safe place for everyone to create and feel comfortable sharing their creations with other learners. I am happy to teach classes with only one learner and don't cancel due to low enrollment.
