Lessons are interactive and I welcome student participation! Students are invited to suggest what subjects they would like to paint in upcoming lessons. Next month's subjects are chosen by learners at the end of each month.

My goal is not only to teach students how to paint a particular object, but to help them practice the skills they need to paint anything they want! Students are encouraged to use their creativity to add or change details of the image as desired.

During class, we practice painting techniques such as:
-- Shading & blending.
-- Realistic textures.
-- "Lean to fat" technique (layering & overlapping).
-- Mixing colors & creating contrast.
-- Creating a background.

* Students who paint slowly may wish to paint smaller, or finish after class. Class recordings are always automatically posted in the classroom.

Please refer to the Supply List (below) to see what materials are required for this class.

I have taught painting and drawing for many years, and in my observation the most effective way to teach good technique is to demonstrate it! Painting together with my students lets me illustrate technique and help them build the critical thinking and observational skills they need to continue working on their own. My goal is to encourage my students' confidence in their own creativity, by building the technical skills they need to make anything they want!
