From the Eiffel Tower, to the Taj Mahal, to the Statue of Liberty, the world is filled with beautiful and exotic locations. Join me each week as we travel to a different location through our art. Students will follow along with me as we paint each locale step by step and they will learn different ways of using our wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry techniques. We will go over not just how to paint with watercolor, but also why we may choose one technique or color over another. With each new location students will also learn how to paint a stylized tourist. By the end of class each student should have a completed painting.* Week 1: The Eiffel Tower in the rain Week 2: Big Ben Week 3: Golden Gate Bridge Week 4: Taj Mahal Week 5: Leaning Tower of Pisa Week 6: Mt. Rushmore Week 7: Easter Island Heads Week 8: The Louvre Week 9: The Statue of Liberty Week 10: Roman Colosseum Week 11: The Pyramids Week 12: Washington Monument *Everyone paints at their own pace, so I will remain 15 minutes after each class to help any students that fall behind. I have given myself an hour and a half to teach each class, however, if I notice that we regularly go over/under time I will change the length and price accordingly. I will be using Arches 100% cotton, 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. While you don’t need this specific brand I would recommend using paper that has the same qualities since cheap or non watercolor paper can cause problems and lead to frustration. Strathmore is a fairly decent alternative brand that costs $12 for a 9x12 pad at Hobby Lobby. (Cheaper if you use a coupon.)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I’m Annika and I love all things arts and crafts related. I teach watercolor and acrylic classes. In both of these I will teach your children different ways to hold a paintbrush in order to achieve various effects. We will also learn different ways of shading and blending as well as how to use a reference photo to achieve the desired affect.
I have had multiple art teachers over the years who have all come from different countries and backgrounds. Each one has taught me something different that has helped me become a better artist, and I look forward to sharing what they have taught me with the next generation of artists.
I believe art should be fun and exciting and with as few boundaries as possible. This means using materials considered “unconventional,” such as glitter, rhinestones, sequins, and anything else that inspires you. When it comes to art there is no limit to what you can accomplish.
