In this class students will learn how to use a unique painting tool in order to create a textured Christmas tree. We will talk about what texture in art is, and what the difference is between actual texture and implied texture. We will practice layering paint colors to add new color combinations and depth to their tree painting. We will use fine motor skills to glue on colored bead accents. Learners will have the opportunity to design their tree in the manner of their choosing. Learner's will be encouraged to socialize during the art making process. At the end of the course every learner that chooses to, may share his/her paintings.

-Practice and improve fine motor development
-Make creative choices in their artwork

-1 piece of white card stock or construction paper -Liquid tempera paint-green, blue, and brown -Paper plate -Plastic fork -Paint brush -Liquid glue -Colored beads-any size, shape, or color -Sequins, buttons, Pompoms, etc -Table covering -Smock

I hold a Master's in the Art of Teaching with endorsements in Mathematics, Language Arts, Music, Art, & Drama. I have worked as a private tutor for 25+ years with elementary, high school, and college level students in the following courses; Grade Level Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Statistics, Reading, Literature, Writing, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, American & World History, and Spanish I.
My full time job is running my business, The Painted Toad Art Studio. I am a teaching artist and I provide youth and adult painting events in my studio and online.
I enjoy a variety of activities including; painting, drawing, cooking, bike riding, swimming, scrapbooking, singing, photography, and spending time with friends & family. My husband, four daughters, and I live in Michigan. We have 5 cats, two bunnies, & 12 chickens.
