Painting for Minecrafters With Watercolors! Weekly Art Class

Hello Minecraft lovers and gamers! In this live ongoing class, students will receive step-by-step instruction to create a Minecraft themed painting each week using watercolors mixed with crayons or oil pastels and Sharpie markers. Students may receive "Minecraft" shaped templates to help their shapes depending on the week. Projects will include a printout of Steve or other Minecraft character to glue onto their creation but the painting itself will be a themed background for the character to be placed in (Ex: a polished granite building with glowstone windows and grass)

This class will meet each week.

You may join at any time and cancel at any time! You do not need to attend prior classes to join at any time.  Although students will gain more art comfort and understanding the more classes they attend, each class can stand alone on it's own. Plus they get to chat about Minecraft! 

We will discuss painting techniques and using a paintbrush during each class as well as talking about basic shapes, colors, and color mixing. Students should come to class ready to be creative and have fun! Students are not required to share their work but we will certainly share by quickly showing them to the class if time allows.



MATERIALS:
9x12in Watercolor Paper (NOT printer paper or cardstock. This will be very important!) Link is in the Supplies list if needed
Pencil/Eraser
Oil Pastels OR Crayons (I love Pentel or Crayola)
Watercolors (any watercolor cake set is fine but my favorite is Faber-Castell)
Small amount of WHITE acrylic (optional to add "highlights" OR glitter glue is an easy/fun option too!!)
Sharpie Marker
Brushes of various sizes (at least one big & wide brush)
Paper Towel/Towel
Water in Cup
Prepped and lined workstation (use newspaper to cover the work area)
Printed Minecraft Character (provided the day before class!)
