In this class I will teach students: - How to create a simple outer space background - Recreate a minimalist baby Yoda head - How to properly control their paintbrushes for creating smooth and flowing gradients - The effects of applying different pressures to the paintbrush to create shadows and shapes - The importance of practical color placement - How to create stars using different parts of the paintbrush - Paintbrush etiquette There are times I purposely create a mistake in order to show students how to recover from any painting mistakes that may occur during their artistic journey! This simple painting allows students to explore personal creativity as well learning the beneficial results of minimalism. I encourage students to make personal color choices to create an art piece unique to themselves.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their brush control when blending colors and creating thin and thick lines.
Students will learn color theory in the gradients

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hullo!
My name is Tabitha, but most kids refer to me as Miss T.
I am looking forward to teaching young people how painting is unique to themselves as individuals, and that life lessons can stem from learning any kind of creative outlet. I personally believe that anyone can create artwork-- it just needs to be cultivated!
I was a studio art teacher for nearly 3 years having taught painting lessons to large groups of children as young as 3 years old to young adults 19+. I understand how to navigate through the discouragement that youths often feel when their art piece does not resemble someone else's that they deem "better," and teach them to see beyond the artwork and look at their own special skills and techniques.
In college I learned that history and science have big part to play in the art world therefore, I enjoy sprinkling "golden nuggets" of grammar and word origins into my art lessons.
In my spare time I think, read classic literature & children's fantasy books, draw & paint, go for walks, and plot novels.
