In this 4 day painting and collage art camp with art teacher Mrs. DeMaria, students will learn about the style of the daily featured artist (Fauvism, Expressionism, Pop Art, etc) look at a few of the pieces for which they are best known, then recreate a piece in their style/inspired by their work. Mrs. DeMaria will provide detailed art instruction, but also allow for full creativity! The four artists we will be covering this session are as follows, with one artist featured each day: Roy Lichtenstein Georgia O'Keeffe Henri Matisse Yayoi Kusama Cameras must be on and students must be on camera for the entirety of the class. All learners must be enrolled students; if two learners are sharing a device, both learners must be enrolled per Outschool policies. SEG does not do last minute transfers or refunds, after the limited cancellation period has expired. Please see the supply list (also provided upon enrollment). Supply List
The supply list: Mixed Media art paper Blank scrap paper (for concept work before we start the project) Pencils Eraser A printed photo of a flower to use as a model (we will discuss this prior) Paint brushes A cup of water for rinsing your brushes Paper towels to dry your brushes Paints of your choice. I'll be using acrylic but you can use whatever you have/prefer to use Construction or other colored paper, magazine pages, etc - really anything you want to include in your collage! Scissors White glue Foam brush or q-tips for glue application

Teacher expertise and credentials
Laurie DeMaria is an art teacher for Success Enrichment Group's jr high and high school students in Central New York. She has enjoyed creating artwork in various mediums for 20+ years. She has won awards for her woodburning pieces in both the US and in Canada. In addition to calligraphy, paper quilling, and scherenschnitte (paper cutting), she works with acrylics and graphite. Laurie lives with her husband in New York, where she is a work-from-home, homeschooling mom of 2. She enjoys theater, music, and reading, is fluent in ASL and is an activist in the fight against human trafficking.
