Class Experience

Learners will gain confidence as they unveil their artistic talents and abilities. They will see their inner artist shine with each painting! Art encourages self-expression and creativity and can build confidence as well as a sense of individual identity.
No homework, but artists may continue to work on their masterpiece if they would like to add additional details not completed in class.

SUPPLY LIST: Let’s Get Ready to Paint! You will need: * Canvas OR canvas paper OR watercolor paper OR multi-purpose paper thick enough for acrylics. Students can paint on any size. *Painters tape to tape surface if not using a canvas * Acrylic paint in a variety of colors, but at minimum MUST have the following colors: red, blue, yellow, white, and black. These colors can be combined to create new colors. * Paper towels * Cup of water to rinse brushes * 1 small detail brush; 1 medium filbert brush; 1 large flat brush * Palette OR disposable plate to put paints on * Pencil with eraser OR chalk *Paper OR newspaper OR poster board OR cardboard to protect your painting surface OPTIONAL: *Smock OR oversized shirt to protect clothing from paint *Hairdryer to speed up drying time SUPPLY LINKS: Please note prices vary upon quality and brand. IMPORTANT: You do NOT need all of these supplies, but I would like to provide you with several options. :) *Acrylic painting kit with 12 colors, 6 brushes, and ONLY 3 (8x10) canvases ($14) *Watercolor Pad, 30 sheets, 9x12 ($6) *Michael's Craft Smart Acrylic Paints- ($12) *Amazon Apple Barrel Paints ($17) *Painting Brushes ($4)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners may use a hairdryer, although not necessary, to speed up the process of their drying time. Please keep in mind that a hairdryer may be too hot for learners and surfaces may become hot. Learners may instead resort to using a fan or a sheet of paper to dry their painting.
