In this week long Acrylic Painting Camp we will work on a 5 fun paintings over 5 days!

Class Experience

Acrylic painting techniques: Blending, dabbing, wash, textural painting, dry brush, palate knife, directional brushstroke work, abstract, and fine detail painting.

On top of acrylic painting techniques, learners will also learn about basic composition and lighting.

Patience and persistence: Art is a lot of fun, and part of that fun is a rollercoaster of successes and struggles. Students who complete a 5 part class will (hopefully) challenge themselves enough to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow as artists.
If the learner did not finish the painting steps in class I will expect them to finish it on their own using the recording for support.
There is no additional painting homework for this class.
• 8 OR MORE PAINT COLOURS:
Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Brown, White, Black
NOTE: Better quality paint usually results in better paintings. My go-to paint is Winsor Newton (I recommend this). However I often use Deco Art Acrylic Paint for classes because it’s more affordable and most students use that brand.

• 5 OR MORE PAINT BRUSH:
  Thick flat brush = 3/4in - 1.5in wide.
Soft Medium flat brush = 1/3 inch wide.
Old/Hard Medium flat brush = 1/3 inch wide.
  Medium round, hard bristled brush.
  Very small, thin rounded brush
A Fan Brush is helpful but optional

• 5-6 GOOD PAINT SURFACE:
Hard canvases like a canvas board or wood boards.
Paper will not work.

• 4 PRACTICE PAINT SURFACES:
I use thin, smooth, sturdy cardboard from a cereal/cracker/cookie box or frozen food box.

• PALATE: I use plastic lids

• OLD RAG/CLOTH

• HARD, FLAT EDGES: I use an old rewards card but a plastic ruler, palate knife or spatula will work. More options is better.

• WATER CONTAINER

• PENCIL AND ERASER

• BLOWDRYER
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will give each student written feedback for their artwork. The student needs to send me a photo of the artwork for feedback. I do not like to give marks for art because it is so subjective.
7 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

I love to teach art, and specialize in drawing (wide variety of styles and techniques), procreate, watercolour, and acrylic painting. When I teach, I like to lead by example. This means that I draw, paint and create with my students. Throughout...
