 Week 1
Lesson 1
Blooming with Manet
Learn about Edouard Manet, a pioneer of both Realism and Impressionism. Explore the element of "Value" and use oil pastels, black construction paper, and vibrant acrylic or tempera paints to create your own beautiful bouquet, just like Manet!
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Van Gogh's Swirling Irises
Step into the world of Vincent van Gogh and learn about his expressive style. Explore the use of color and brushstrokes to capture the movement and energy of his famous irises. Oil pastels and acrylic or tempera paint in blue, yellow, white, black, and mint green or blue green will help you create your own swirling masterpiece!
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Renoir's Delightful Peonies
Join Pierre-Auguste Renoir and discover his love for light and color. We'll explore "Line" as an element and get creative with a mixed-media project using oil pastels, watercolors, and construction paper. Get ready to design a vibrant vase overflowing with colorful peonies!
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Delicate Roses with Morisot
Learn about Berthe Morisot's Impressionistic style, known for its delicate brushstrokes and soft color palettes. Use primary colors of tempera or acrylic paint, red, yellow, and blue, plus white and black. I also have a light pink/peach color I use, but it's not required. Explore color mixing to create a trio of exquisite roses in a vase, just like Morisot!

Lesson 5
Pissarro's Colorful Bouquet
Camille Pissarro awaits! Explore his use of color and light with oil pastels and watercolors. Create a vibrant tabletop still life with a stunning bouquet of flowers, inspired by Pissarro's masterpieces!
  • Learn to use various art media and how and why to incorporate the elements of art and principles of design.
Homework Offered
No assigned homework, though artists are encouraged to continue practicing their new skills.

For this class, artists will need:
Mixed media paper in a large size such as 12x18 
Construction paper in various colors/sizes
scissors
glue
Sharpee marker (or other waterproof marker)
Watercolor pan set
Chalk pastels
Oil Pastels
Tempera paint in at least the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and black and white
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
