Class Experience

In this class students will be using leaves to create a painting. We will talk about how to use a paintbrush, evenly put paint on the leaf, and how to use the leaf as a stamp. The class will start with a story, an introduction on how to use our materials, and then we will paint! We will talk about the different leaves that each student has found and the types of trees we have depending on where we live. Next we will move into the painting part. When students have finished painting we will take the time to show off our artwork to each other! No prior knowledge is needed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Miss Alex. I am very excited to focus on social emotional development in students who are 3-5 years old. I plan to teach classes about emotions, problem solving, and communication with others. In a young students life these are such important challenges that come up daily and without the proper skills to address them students can easily become frustrated. It is important to teach them the skills for a successful educational career early. I am a Pre-School teacher in a public school in New Jersey and I absolutely love what I do. I believe in the power of play and I believe in importance of discovery. Allowing students to explore the world around them creates the curiosity we need to raise a successful future generation. I started teaching 5th grade Language arts and when my school noticed how heavily I included social emotional learning into 5th grade they felt I should give Pre-School a try and I fell in love!
