 Week 1
Lesson 1
Camille Pissarro
This week, we're strolling through lush fields with Camille Pissarro, a key figure in Impressionism! Explore his life and the Impressionist movement's focus on capturing light and everyday moments. We'll then delve into his artwork, including "The Meadow with Gray Horse." Get ready to create your own vibrant meadow scene inspired by Pissarro using crayons and watercolors!
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Edouard Manet
This week, we're meeting Edouard Manet, a captivating French artist who defied labels! While often linked to Impressionism, Manet wasn't afraid to break the mold. We'll explore his life and unique approach to art in an age-appropriate way (no worries, no inappropriate content). Get ready to set sail on a colorful journey through Venice, inspired by Manet's masterpiece, "The Grand Canal." We'll recreate this vibrant scene using crayons and watercolors.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Georges Seurat
This week, we're meeting Georges Seurat, the artist who mastered the amazing art form called Pointillism! Pointillism uses tiny dots of color to create vibrant images. We'll explore Seurat's life, how Pointillism fits with Impressionism and create our own masterpiece.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Paul Klee
This week, we're meeting Paul Klee, an artist with a one-of-a-kind style! We'll explore his playful use of shapes and vibrant colors, and how it fit within the Expressionist movement. (Don't worry, we'll only look at age-appropriate pieces!) Get ready to learn how Klee borrowed ideas from Cubism, like using shapes, to create his unique art!
Each learner will need:
- A watercolor set
- A set of acrylic paints (a few basic colors) for the Seurat painting only
- Q-tips or cotton swabs (for Seurat painting only)
- A brush (any size will do)
- A cup with water to clean the brush
- Set of crayons (or oil pastels)
- Heavy white paper (watercolor paper is preferred but not completely necessary)
- Table protection (newspaper, butcher paper etc).
- Smock or old t-shirt to keep the paints off of your child's clothing
Parents are encouraged to be close by during the class to help their learner with the painting process to minimize spills (especially with electronics close by!) and to make sure their paints stay on the paper.
