In this class, we will travel to the Netherlands and paint an Impressionist style tulips fields with a windmill, inspired by Claude Monet's paintings that he made there when he spent a lot of time in the country. We will start with a checklist of materials and talk a little about Monet and his time in Netherlands and then get right into our directed simple drawing and then step by step, coloring and layering to build our beautiful, Dutch landscape. We will use acrylic paints, various...
For this class we will need: 1. Canvas or canvas or mixed media paper (size 12 x 12 or 9 x 11 or 11x14 or similar; but nothing too big so it can be completed in time. 2.Assorted bright acrylic colors; specially – blue (sky blue or cobalt blue), green (light/medium and dark green ), any hue of purple, orange, yellow, red, white, and black. 3.Few brushes, 1 thick, 1 medium and 1 thin 4. Pencil and eraser for initial drawing 5. Gloves for finger painting 6. Clean water bowl, cloth rag to wipe down the brushes. 7 A palette, or a paper plate or paper bowl to mix colors. OPTIONAL Painters tape or masking tape (preferably 1/2 inch) taped around the paper or canvas at the start of the painting. Ripped off at the end, for clean white borders on all 4 sides.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
