Class Experience

• Acrylic paint in a variety of colors - I recommend magenta, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, and brown. At minimum, students will need the primary colors (red, yellow, blue), black, and white. • Paint Palette for mixing and fine-tuning colors • A variety of paintbrushes - Assortment should include brushes in a variety of shapes and sizes for painting large spaces as well as details. I also recommend round sponge brushes in a variety of sizes if they are available. • Stretch canvas, canvas panels, or acrylic paper - Learners may paint on any size of canvas/paper that is available to them, but for best results, I recommend canvases between 8x10 inches and 11x14 inches. • Water to wash brushes in • A rag towel or paper towels to dry paint brushes • Old clothes or a smock that won't be damaged by paint • A drop cloth to protect the work surface/floor OPTIONAL: - A pencil or marker for sketching shapes before we paint them. - A compass or stencil for making perfect circles - Painter's tape for masking areas of the painting - Special effects paint like glitter, glow-in-the-dark, or metallic paint
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
