US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Get inspired by the chilly weather and come create a snowy winter scene! This class is beginner friendly and we do everything together, step-by-step. 🎨 We'll start class with a warm welcome and learners are invited to share their favorite things to do in winter. There is no pressure to share if they don't want to though! 🎨 Next, we'll paint the background of our painting. We'll use a sponge painting technique and learners can use a pom pom, cotton ball, sponge, or balled up paper towel to create this. We use blue and white and will discuss how using multiple shades of the same color can add interest to our paintings. 🎨 While our backgrounds dry a bit, we'll work on making trees. I'll teach the learners how to draw an upside-down "V" on their green paper to make triangles and we'll cut them out and glue them to our background. Then, we'll draw some simple trunk and branch details on our trees. 🎨 Finally, we'll use white paint and a cotton swab to make snow over our whole winter scene. See the supply list below for a full list of the supplies needed. I am a patient and positive teacher and I truly believe that everyone can create art! I love seeing learners build their confidence and have fun creating something they're proud of. Everyone's finished product will be different and we celebrate those differences! Also, as a former shy kid myself, I am very understanding of learners who take some time to warm up and there is no pressure in my classes to talk if that isn't comfortable yet. All are welcome here!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from The University of Florida
Hello! My name is Ms. Suzanne and I love teaching arts and crafts to young artists. I believe everyone can be an artist! I love working with kids and have done so as a daycare teacher, nanny, school volunteer, and as a mom to my own three kids. I have a BA in linguistics from the University of Florida and I've been doing arts and crafts for as long as I can remember (I even ran my own Etsy shop for awhile!). When I teach arts and crafts projects to young learners, I believe in giving them lots of encouragement to try new things and make mistakes. Everyone's art will be a little different, and not only is that ok, it's amazing!
