***The student will be sent a simple drawing ahead of class to either draw or trace onto watercolor paper. (As this can take a few minutes, it leaves us the entire class time to paint.) The student will learn a very loose style of painting with short strokes, using a flat 1/2" paint brush, and mixing paint right on the paper with every few strokes. I will be painting and demonstrating, but encouraging the students to find their own 'voice' and enjoy the creativity of painting in a more...
****BEFORE CLASS: I will have the image of the panda in the classroom to print out as well as a video on how to trace it onto the paper (or canvas) of your choice. This way, our class time is available for painting the image. -Watercolor paper (I encourage the Canson XL Series Watercolor Paper, Wire Bound, 140 Pound, 9 x 12 Inch, 30 Sheets). It can be used as an art journal for various classes, but pages are perforated and can be removed easily for framing, if desired). You can find these journals at your local Michael or on Amazon (https://amzn.to/30v51qG) -(Cardstock may be used, but will not handle as much water, so students should dry their brush as much as possible between colors, using an old rag) -acrylic paint in white, black, + several colors of choice. (I used greens and blues for background, but student may not have time to complete the background during class) - 1/2"-1" flat paint brush - pencil & eraser (prior to class) - water dish -palette for paint (foam plate, parchment paper, etc. will work) - old rag + paper towels
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
