Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
Beginner Level
If you are interested in starting a small group tutoring session for reading and writing with a group of friends or classmates, please contact me so we can set up a time. These are private sessions and won't be listed for the public to enroll individually.

Boost your child's self-esteem and love for learning through our small-group reading and writing workshop, designed to nurture peer collaboration and individual growth. Each session is tailored to the group's specific needs, incorporating material and stories that inspire students to write "an extra page" for a book or experiment with the author's style and genre.

I will use reading material appropriate to the students' levels to teach context clues, explore various genres, decode words, and develop strategies for comprehension and prediction. Writing activities will align with and reinforce the lessons learned from the reading component.

A typical 45 minute class will include an introduction of the objective for that day, a game of something we learned in a prior class or at the end of that day's class, reading a short story, working on writing using the example we found in the text.

Each student receives a dedicated Google Slides folder to organize their work, allowing for real-time tutor feedback and encouragement during the writing process. Books and reading materials are chosen weekly based on students' needs and/or parents' requests, ensuring a personalized and flexible learning experience.

This course is available by request to ensure all students are at the same level. If you have a small group of similar-level learners, please contact me to arrange a class time.

Topics will be chosen based on the group's interests. I customize private group sessions according to their specific needs and preferences. For example, if the group is passionate about sports, I will incorporate sports-related materials for reading and writing. If the group loves horses, I will include horse-themed materials in many lessons. If a group loves science or nature, then I gear the reading material towards those subjects.

Ideal for ESL students and homeschoolers with a group of friends looking for a shared tutoring experience, this class also supports teachers with small groups requiring extra attention.

With extensive experience in teaching and tutoring reading and writing, I look forward to guiding small groups to success based on their unique needs.

To ensure the best educational experience for your students, please reach out to me to discuss your specific needs. I am committed to tailoring each session to fit your students' learning styles and goals. Together, we can create an engaging and effective educational journey that supports your students' growth and success. Contact me today to start planning your customized learning experience.

I have been teaching English to children in China for VIPKID and absolutely love it. I am married to a courageous firefighter and have two children that I homeschool. My daughter is 8 and my son is 10. I am a leader in a large local homeschool co-op. Traveling around the world is a hobby of mine. I enjoy meeting people and learning about new cultures. Teaching is my passion and I am energized by it. Teaching your child will be the energy highlight of my day. I believe children learn best while being fully engaged which happens when fun is involved. When I love what I am teaching, they will love what they are learning. If I am not learning, I am not having fun. I look forward to having your child in my classroom.
