Class Experience
For eight meetings, we will read a variety of highly acclaimed books. I have chosen these books to get students excited and engaged with the writing, making them want to share their thoughts with others. Before the first meeting, please have your student read The complete list of books we will be discussing are: Week 1 - The Marvellers by Dhonielle Clayton Week 2 - A Night Divided by Jennifer A. Nielsen Week 3 - As Brave as You by Jason Reynolds Week 4 - The Blackthorn Key by Kevin...
Book clubs are a great way to teach students to form and share opinions with others, which are important skills to have as they get older. I run all book clubs so every student can answer questions that I pose and participate in the lively discussion. I am also aware that some students prefer to participate through chat than on a microphone which is entirely acceptable and something I support. My goal for the students is to get them to share their thoughts in whatever way they feel comfortable doing that.
I am an experienced teacher who has been leading book clubs for over ten years. I have a love of literature that I share with my students. I am also experienced with students of all abilities and am patient and respectful towards everyone. If you have a 2E student or gifted student please feel free to reach out to me prior to class starting so that we may discuss your child's individual needs.
Coming to class with the book read so they are ready to discuss.
