Class Experience

Book clubs are a great way to teach students to form and share opinions with others, which are important skills to have as they get older. I run all book clubs so every student can answer questions that I pose and participate in the lively discussion. I am also aware that some students prefer to participate through chat than on a microphone which is entirely acceptable and something I support. My goal for the students is to get them to share their thoughts in whatever way they feel comfortable doing that.
I am an experienced teacher who has been leading book clubs for over ten years. I have a love of literature that I share with my students.

I am also experienced with students of all abilities and am patient and respectful towards everyone. If you have a 2E student or gifted student please feel free to reach out to me prior to class starting so that we may discuss your child's individual needs.
Coming to class with the book read so they are ready to discuss.
No materials are required for the class besides the books which the family is responsible for getting. Please note that affiliate links are used. Please look up all books to make sure they are appropriate for your student and your family. Some of our books deal with death, racism, bullying, isolation, and coming of age themes. All books are middle-grade novels and appropriate for the age group. If you have concerns, please pre-read all selections. I am not responsible for content.
