Hej och välkommen! Swedish is an old language with ties to the Norse language but has also been influenced by German, French, and English. It is important that the student has taken the beginner class before you enroll in this class. If your student already knows some Swedish due to family, please contact me if you like to enroll. There will be a booklet that I will send to everyone upon enrollment that it is very important that you print out because we will use this one in class. I also suggest buying a Swedish-English dictionary. Each week we will work with one chapter in the booklet. The booklet has texts, vocabulary, pictures, and questions to work with during the class. Week 1 Chapter 1 How to introduce yourself with name, age, location, and one personal detail. Reading and speaking exercises and answering questions in the booklet. Week 2 Chapter 2 On the farm (farm animals and counting) Reading and answering questions in the booklet Week 3 Chapter 3 Looks (hairstyles, eye and hair colors, glasses) Reading and speaking exercises. Describe yourself with the correct Swedish words. Week 4 Chapter 4 The Letter to Grandma and Grandpa. Reading and writing a short letter in class Week 5 Chapter 5 winter and spring and the Swedish holidays connected to these two seasons. Reading and pronunciation Week 6 Chapter 6 My family-how to describe your family and use the right names for relatives; aunts, uncles, cousins, brother, sister, mom, dad, etc. Reading and describing your own family with the correct Swedish words. Week 7 Going to a restaurant and ordering food. The student will write a short menu in class with their favorite foods. Week 8 Summer and fall/autumn and the Swedish holidays connected to these two seasons.
