Description
Class Experience
Students will develop the foundational science skills of observation, questioning and recording. Students will develop the skill of research as they look for information about their natural observations. Students will also develop artistic skills as they draw what they see in nature.
I have been a Charlotte Mason homeschool teacher for many years. It is our preferred method of learning. It is meant to inspire and give learners skills, tools and a desire to know more about the world around them. Charlotte Mason teachers "spread the feast" and allow students to take what nourishes them.
Students are encouraged to get outside and take notice of all the wonderful nature around them. Each season offers its own array of things to observe. They are encouraged to learn more about what they see and make a nature journal entry.
Nature journal or paper Pencils for drawing and writing Colored pencils or watercolors or pastels. For those students who wish to dissect an owl pellet in class this is the kit I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QDXH2FK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It comes with owl pellets, a guidebook and tweezers. You can also contact your local raptor center or zoo and ask if they can provide you with and owl pellet.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I will use you tube videos of owls flying and catching prey.
