Class will be taught via live video chat. A board-certified music therapist will use slides, lecture, audio/video clips, and live examples to provide a brief overview of the field of music therapy. Topics covered will include history of music therapy, current status of the field of music therapy, different approaches and methods, types of applications and interventions, and required training and an overview of various options for achieving this. The course will be taught from a perspective mainly focused on the United States. The class will be primarily lecture format, though ample space for questions and conversation will be provided. This course only runs upon request. I am happy to run it for one learner, if the family is comfortable with this. Please message me directly if you are interested, and we can schedule a time. The instructor will recommend several introductory textbooks, websites, videos, and articles for students who are interested in further exploration. None of these are required, and no preparation is required prior to coming to this one-time class.
