US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
Students work through the self-paced program at their own speed and comfort level. The program teaches math problem-solving tools that are different from tools taught in standard math classes in that they draw on more intuitive skills. Even math phobic students have these intuitive skills but have generally not been taught how to apply them to math. The program is also a powerful learning tool for students who are very good at math. These students already use intuitive tools and can use this program to advance their skills. The program consists of an Introduction, five specific units and a follow up, including an index. Each unit consists of four to six learning days, and each learning day covers five study questions. Each study question consists of a math problem involving a number of math patterns. The questions are based on typical ACT or SAT math problems. For each math problem, a complete explanation is given demonstrating how to apply intuitive tools to that type of problem. Demonstrations include diagrams and examples and are designed to be easily readable and understandable. In total, the program covers 101 ACT- or SAT-style math problems encompassing all of the math patterns typically found on these exams. Upon completing each unit, students earn "rewards", which consist of stories, videos, and puzzles that enforce visual and kinesthetic learning styles. The program can be used in conjunction with studying actual ACT or SAT math problems. Teacher Support: During the duration of the program support is available for any technical problems or general questions about using the program. Please note that there is no support for going over math questions in the program or other math questions or homework. The teacher does not provide feedback or evaluation of a student's progress or suggestions for how to approach math in classes. The program is designed to be fully self-explanatory, which helps us keep the cost of the program affordable. Students can continue to use the program for a full year but technical support ends after the designated number of weeks of the program.
