Homework
1 hour per week. There will be homework assigned each week to support the weekly lessons. Learners will have the week to submit their homework directly to me. Learners will not engage in discussion with one another regarding homework assignments. Week 1- What safety behaviors did you use throughout the week? Log (worksheet) Week 2- Practice at least 2 mindfulness exercises learned Week 3- Challenge negative thoughts throughout the week (worksheet) Week 4- Initiate the first step in your goal Week 5- Starting and maintaining conversation- what could you say? (worksheet)

Class Experience

***This is a self-paced course with no live meetings. This self-paced course is a great option for youth who deal with high levels of social anxiety and aren't comfortable partaking in a live class format. Additionally, this self-paced course allows youth to access course material on their own time. 

Are you ready to make positive changes in your life to overcome social anxiety? In this 5 week online course,  learners will gain an in-depth understanding of the methods used to overcome social anxiety and start to implement them into their lives through the weekly homework assignments. Each week will focus on a different topic:

Class 1: Social Anxiety- What are the causes and effects? What are symptoms of social anxiety? What situations can cause social anxiety? What are safety behaviors? 

Class 2: Mindfulness- What is mindfulness? Learn different breathing exercises and other mindfulness activities. 

Class 3: Challenging negative/ anxious thoughts- Learn how to recognize negative thought patterns associated to social anxiety. We will learn how to challenge these negative thoughts through different written activities. 
 
Class 4: Creating goals to overcome social fears- Learn how to create goals to overcome social anxiety in specific or multiple situations. Learners will be given guidance and tips on how to best implement these goals into their lives. 
 
Class 5: Communicating Effectively- Learn strategies on setting boundaries and how to disagree with someone in an assertive manner. Obtain tips on body language and basic conversational skills. 

The prerecorded videos in this course are created by me and include a Canva presentation alongside discussion of concepts and topics being taught. Each class video is approximately 40 minutes - 1 hour in length. Learners will have the week to submit their homework directly to me and are encouraged to message me if they need any assistance.
Learning Goals
Students will gain a better understanding on what social anxiety is. Furthermore, students will learn tools to overcome social anxiety and learn how to implement them into their lives.

Supply List
There will be worksheets posted in the classroom used to support the weekly lessons. Learners should print these out and fill them in when they are told to do so during the prerecorded lessons. Learners are expected to submit their class worksheets directly to me along with their weekly homework assignments.
