Students will progress through the alphabet in alphabetical order and this curriculum is designed to give students a solid foundation in phonemic awareness, letter sounds, word building, and decodable reading. and handwriting. In this trial pod, learners will meet the teachers and sample the full-length Pod class.

This fun, hands-on and fun-filled camp provides students with a sneak peek at the foundation skills and practice to help them become amazing readers. Students will use a combination of movement, kinesthetics, manipulatives and paper materials. Cheri: Ms. Cheri is a certified speech therapist who has spent the bulk of her 20-year career working with young children and their parents in early intervention, preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade classrooms. In 2003 Ms. Cheri earned her master's degree in speech-language pathology and then went on to earn the American Speech and Hearing Association's Certificate of Clinical Competence. Ms. Cheri has a state educator license to work in public schools for speech therapy. In May of 2020, Ms. Cheri began to teach private students both in small groups and individually online. She has developed different curricula in the areas of communication, reading, English language arts, and social skills to address each individual student’s needs. Ms. Cheri is also a parent to her sons who were adopted from Russia, so she is passionate about young learners being exposed to other cultures. Ms. Cheri is skilled in utilizing a wide variety of technology to create an engaging classroom, which is an asset in students remaining engaged throughout the lesson. Ms. Cheri is a patient educator who is committed to helping every student successfully meet the lesson objectives while also using different modes of instruction to make lessons interactive and fun. Chelsea Mrs. Chelsea has her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She received her state’s licensure for teaching Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. From there, Mrs. Chelsea took classes to receive a Special Education License for ages birth through fifth grade. Mrs. Chelsea received her 120-Hour TESOL Certification. Mrs. Chelsea has taught in a variety of settings over the last fifteen years. Mrs. Chelsea began her career mentoring children with special needs and tutoring them one-on-one. Next, Mrs. Chelsea taught for 3 years in public schools as a self-contain and integrated Special Education Classroom Teacher. Mrs. Chelsea left the classroom to become a homeschool teacher to her three children. She is in her 6th year of homeschooling. FOr the last four years, she has taught online one-on-one English to ESL students for four years. She is in her third year teaching Kindergarten in a private school setting. Mrs. Chelsea is a very interactive, energetic teacher. Her classes are always interactive and upbeat. Mrs. Chelsea has the ability and experience to adjust her lessons while in class in order for all lessons to be individualized to meet the needs of all learners. Mrs. Chelsea always ensures all learners meet the learning objectives.
All supplies will be posted to the classroom and can be accessed upon enrollment. Students will also need a pencil, paper and may bring a whiteboard ($1.25 at Dollar Tree).
Informal assessment in the classroom.
