Class Experience

In this class, students will learn the basics of our Solar System. We will focus our learning on the sun, the planets, Earth's moon, and what it would be like to be an astronaut in space. Throughout this class, students will complete a space journal about their learning (this will be available to download once your child is enrolled in the class). The class is taught with the use of slideshows, discussions, and pictures and videos of space. There is also a space journal that students can use to follow along and track their learning. Make sure to access and print these from the classroom page. This is an interactive and fun class to be a part of and is perfect for young learners who are curious about outer space!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ilissa and I am so excited to work with your child in the online classroom! I am passionate about creating an engaging and fun classroom environment. I was an elementary classroom teacher for nine years before taking time to stay home with my two boys, who are three and one. While teaching, I taught kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grade, and have a passion for helping students achieve success in the areas of reading and writing. In addition to this, some of my favorite topics to teach are those that have to do with social-emotional skills. Seeing students implement strategies into their everyday lives that will help them to be successful into adulthood brings me great joy.

When I’m not teaching, I love being outside with my family running, hiking, and biking. We recently moved to Michigan from Colorado and love exploring all that Michigan has to offer!

My classroom is a happy and engaging place to be. Students will all be able to actively participate in our learning throughout each class. I hope to see you soon!
