Over the course of ten weeks, readers will embark on an exciting literary journey through Sharon Draper's thought-provoking novel, "Out of My Mind." This book club is all about making reading fun, interactive, and fostering a love for literature. Learners will analyze the main character's strengths and challenges, explore the concepts of inclusion and empathy, discuss how the characters evolved over the course of the story, and analyze each part of the plot. Throughout the "Out of My Mind Explorers Book Club," the focus will be on active participation, fostering critical thinking, and enhancing the reading experience. 

By combining discussions, hands-on activities, and creative expressions, the book club will be a memorable and enriching experience for middle school students. "Out of My Mind" by Sharon Draper is an inspiring novel that captivates the hearts and minds of middle school students. 

Here is a breakdown of the weeks.

**** Learners will read Chapters 1-3 before the first class. ****
Learners will be reading 3-4 chapters each week. 

Week 1: Chapters 1-3
Week 2: Chapters 4-6
Week 3: Chapters 7-9
Week 4: Chapters 10-12
Week 5: Chapters 13-16
Week 6: Chapters 17-19
Week 7: Chapters 20-22
Week 8: Chapters 23-26
Week 9: Chapters 27-29
Week 10: Chapters 30-33

The book club will be led by enthusiastic facilitators who are well-versed in the novel and its themes, making sure each meeting is interactive, inclusive, and exciting for all participants. By the end of the six weeks, students will have a deeper appreciation for literature, a greater understanding of the importance of empathy and inclusion, and a sense of accomplishment for completing the book club journey.

Parental Guidance
"Out of My Mind" is about a young girl with a disability. She is treated badly by others in the book. There is mention of death and bullying.
