US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This discovery class allows kids to share from a trip they've taken to the ocean, a lake or river. Each student may bring an item from their trip to share with the class. Maybe you have a shark tooth, sand dollar, photo, toy, snorkelling or fishing gear to show us, but if you don't, come and hear from others. Our classroom friend, Bugzy (a rabbit), looks forward to meeting each of you. Bugzy may even have a surprise of his own to share! We will talk about the difference between salt water and fresh water, the importance of keeping our waters clean and the people who work around our world's waters. Students will hear a poem, try a tongue twister, sing a song and even pretend they're rowing in a boat over the waves. Students will need their sketchbooks, because at the end of class they will be instructed to draw a fish. Many of my classes include a drawing activity that can be kept in a sketchbook or scientific journal as a record of your child's learning.
Learning Goals
Listening and writing skills will be practiced as students hear stories about our world's waters and learn to draw a fish.

Teacher expertise and credentials
*I have been diagnosed with cancer and will not be taking enrolments at this time.
I am an Early Education Teacher of 20 years and informal ESL Teacher. I strive to make lessons engaging and interactive. My experience teaching both in Canada and overseas has allowed me to see diverse classrooms and teaching situations. I homeschooled my own kids and know that it can be a challenge to schedule in everybody’s academic and social needs while giving them opportunity to develop their own unique talents. My three kids are grown now. One is working in the film industry, another is studying nursing and another is working in recreational sports. I want to support families, like you, who are learning at home.
When I’m not teaching I enjoy working in the garden and growing my own food.
Bye! I’m off to the garden! See you next time!
