Students will have an understanding of the history of Broadway musicals, and an appreciation for the dancing and choreography that helps bring a musical to life on stage!
I have been dancing for the past 25 years having trained in Ballet (American Ballet Theatre Curriculum), Jazz, Modern (Graham and Horton), Tap and more at world renowned institutions such as The Alvin Ailey School in New York City and Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. I have been teaching for the past 10 years at dance studios, public schools and non-profit organizations. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University (Top 5 University Dance Program in U.S.) where I also studied Dance History and Kinesiology for Dancers. I have performed in over 50 US cities with America's Got Talent Semi-Finalist Lightwire Theater, as well as performed at regional theaters in shows like The Little Mermaid, Newsies, Legally Blonde and more. As a professional Choreographer, my choreography spans from the stage to screen and even behind the scenes at dance photo shoots!
You should be in a space cleared from clutter and debris so it is safe to move about freely. Bring some water or a water bottle in case you get thirsty! Clothes that are comfortable to move in as well as dance shoes, socks or bare feet is fine.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Since Dance is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk and injury that can occur with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely. Having a water bottle or water near is important in case your learner gets thirsty during class (we will take a short designated water break during class). Safety is my #1 priority as a teacher, so let's make sure your learner is in a safe environment so we can have fun dancing together!
