US Grade 4 - 7
In this four-week FLEX class, students will explore solar systems from initial formation to the present and beyond. Bring your curiosity and sense of adventure for this fun and interactive class! Each week students will join the online classroom where they will have access to new materials and interaction that can include: videos, lectures, games, presentations, projects, discussions, and assignments. Students will have the opportunity to see the solar system in a completely new way and have a much deeper understanding of the universe that we live in. Learners will have the opportunity to interact with the instructor and their classmates on a weekly basis through discussion and assignments. I respond to messages and monitor discussion posts daily. The class is great for learners of every ability and learning style and will allow them the freedom to conduct basic research every week in a way that benefits them as a learner. Class Schedule: Week 1 - Solar System Formation Students will be introduced to the nebular hypothesis, which is the currently accepted view of solar system formation in the scientific world. Week 2 - The Sun and other Stars The class will explore the different classes of stars, including our very own Sun! Week 3 - Planets, Moons, and Asteroids! What is the difference between Jovian planets and Terrestrial planets? How do we get moons? What are the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud? These are the questions that we will answer during week 3 of class. Week 4 - The Future of the Solar System Students will explore, consider, and reflect on the possibilities of what may happen to our solar system in the future.

Supply List
Learners will need access to art supplies of their choosing. If the student is interested in watercolors, then they will need watercolor supplies. If the student is interested in writing music, poetry, dance, then they will need to be able to record themselves performing these. If they love to paint or draw, then those are the materials they need. I'm happy to work with students and parents to come up with ideas!
