Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn and build upon strategies to help them self-regulate their powerful emotions.
Students may be asked to finish activities that were started in class and practice the songs we sing. Learners are encouraged to discuss what they learn with their parents/guardians and to practice their coping techniques outside of the classroom. Homework will not exceed 30-45 minutes per week. 
Week 1 Crayons/pencil crayons/markers Scissors Glue PDF Worksheet will be sent prior to class Week 2 Crayons/pencil crayons/ markers Scissors Glue PDF Worksheet will be sent prior to class Pipe Cleaner Paper Cup Single whole punch beads (optional) Week 3 PDF Worksheet will be sent prior to class Crayons/pencil crayons/ markers Empty Bottle or Jar with lid Glitter Food Colouring Water Week 4 PDF Worksheet will be sent prior to class Crayons/pencil crayons/ markers Craft Sticks Yarn White Glue Scissors Week 5 PDF Worksheet will be sent prior to class Crayons/pencil crayons/ markers Clean Jar Water Shaving Cream Water (it must be dyed so that we can see it coming through the cloud) Pipette Week 6 PDF Worksheet will be sent prior to class Paper Plate Markers/Crayons/Paints/Pencil Crayons Construction Paper Scissors Glue Any other crafting materials you may want to add to your picture
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be discussing self-regulation techniques to help deal with powerful emotions. I ask that parents encourage their children to practice some of the strategies in real-life situations.
We will be reading the following books throughout the course: "The Pout-Pout Fish" by Marcus Pfister, "Ten Beautiful Things" by Molly Beth Griffin, "I am Stronger than Anger" by Elizabeth Cole, "Bucket Filling from A-Z" by Carol McCloud and Caryn Butzke, and "In My Heart" by Jo Witek.
