In this 7-week online course, students will be provided with the opportunity to explore Social-Emotional Learning skills, giving them the proper tools to become more aware of their own thoughts and feelings in the present environment.
Class experience
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process of developing self-awareness, self-control, empathy, and other skills that contribute to managing, controlling, understanding, and identifying our own emotions and feelings, and how they impact ourselves as well as others. SEL is important because it provides an opportunity for students to develop the skills and tools that are required for children to effectively regulate and understand their own emotions and feelings. Students will develop: the ability to name and identify their own emotions as well as the emotions of others, a toolkit of coping and calming strategies, and a greater awareness of how to manage their emotions.
- Training in Social-Emotional Learning - Training in MindUP Curriculum - Experience running Social-Emotional clubs and camps in-person and online - Experience organizing Social-Emotional learning sessions in-person and online - Training in meditations and safe stretching/movement activities
Optional: Paper and pencil/colouring tools for optional journal prompt at the end of each session. Journal prompts will be posted immediately following the class for learners to look back to if needed.
