Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 10
Beginner - Advanced Level
Our American Story is an American History class unlike any other. Rather than memorizing dates & facts, this online course focuses on historical patterns & practical application in everything covered. From the very earliest settlements of indigenous people through the start of the 1920s, this "first half" of the full course follows a chronological trajectory where each lesson builds on the previous ones. Mr Reusch's style of teaching, that he has used successfully in several schools across two decades, is one that explains the events of history in a context of the time but also as it relates to the present day and the lives of a teenager in the 21st century. In addition to the recorded classes, Mr Reusch will be available for support to dive deeper into topics on a as-needed basis.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to understand historical patterns and recognize the ways that human behavior and group dynamics have not changed throughout the centuries.
Students will be able to connect historical events to their own individual lives to better understand the "why" of history
