We will spend two meetings studying the solar system. We will learn the differences and similarities between planets. What is a star? Is the sun a planet? Can we live on the moon? What do the planets smell like? These questions and many more will be answered in this course. Learners will draw the sun, moon and stars. They will learn the order of the planets through a cut and glue hands on activity sheet. They will learn some amazing facts through song, video images, discussion, and games! This two day course is jam packed with interactive fun!
Learning Goals
Students will develop a foundational understanding of our solar system. They will learn fun facts about the sun, moon, stars, and planets. They will learn the similarities and differences between planets, the moon, the sun, and stars. They will see real NASA images of the planets. They will learn amazing fun facts through A.J. Jenkins' The Solar System Song. They will use their bodies and hand gestures to act out the facts they learn. This class is highly engaging and will definitely keep them engaged and busy. I hope to see you child soon for this fun adventure into space!

Hi Parents! Thank you for your interest in my classes. I offer a wide variety of classes within the life skills, language arts, math, and science content areas. My most popular classes are private math tutoring, shoe tying, introduction to writing and a variety of creative arts classes. These classes are designed for students in elementary through grade 6. I have been a teacher for over thirty years. I have taught students from many cultures and backgrounds. I have taught all content subjects in every elementary grade as well as 6th grade Language Arts. I have taught students on line, in public, parochial, homebound, after school, and in enrichment settings. To date, I have taught over 8,000 virtual on-line classes! I am a licensed teacher, administrator, instructional coach, and also have my academically gifted certification. I earned my masters in school administration from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a highly-qualified bachelors in K-6 from Elon College/University. In addition, I have an associates degree in Early Childhood Education. How we learn and the stages we move through are always taken into account when creating and delivering instruction. In my classroom, I use a wide variety of instructional strategies and research based methodologies to meet the individual learning styles and interests of my students. I use inquiry based learning and believe students learn best when their learning styles and interests are part of the classroom experience. Relationships are an essential part of a students success both in and out of the classroom. Building strong relationships with my students is at the core of my instructional approach. I am a lifelong learner and want to inspire my love for learning with all of my students, in hopes they will be too. Teaching is my passion but in my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, embroidery, spending time outdoors and being on the water. I am happiest when playing with my eight year old grandson Alex and our adorable dog Gracie. I hope you will check out my catalog of classes. I would be happy to create a new class for your interests too. I hope to meet your child soon! Educationally Yours, Jamie
