My experience as an instructional specialist built my expertise for this course. I attended a Thinking Strategies Institute sponsored by PEBC (Public Education and Business Coalition) in Denver Colorado. The following year, I was accepted into the PEBC National Fall Study which continued to build my knowledge about thinking strategies. I co-presented a professional development course titled "Building Better Thinkers" in the district I taught in after attending these PEBC conferences. Books that guide my teaching in this area include Strategies that Work by Harvey and Goudvis as well as Mosaic of Thought by Keene. As an instructional coach, I worked with teachers to develop lessons to help students become better thinkers, thus becoming more successful learners.
