Note: Although this is the 2nd book in the series, it is also a great stand alone chapter book and can easily be enjoyed even if you haven't read the first book. Join me in this 4 week, 4 class, course and get to know Sheila, who was first introduced in the first book of the Fudge series, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We will join Sheila and her friends in some fun adventures and explore Sheila's phobias and fears. I promise our class will be full of laughter! We will be reading, discussing, and analyzing the story and the characters. Each student should read the required chapters before class, but we may also read some of the chapters together in class so we can stop and discuss different parts of the story together. Each student will be encouraged to interact in class during different activities related to our reading. I will also assign journal entries or assignments at the end of each class for homework, and we will share our completed journal entries and assignments with each other each class. We will cover the following chapters in each class. Class 1: Chapters 1-4 Class 2: Chapters 5-8 Class 3: Chapters 9-12 Class 4: Chapters 13-16
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to better analyze and comprehend what they read. We will learn how to find evidence in our reading to support our answers. During our classes we will learn to discuss and and analyze characters in the stories. Students will learn how to express their thoughts and ideas about what they read. They will learn how to think in abstract ways instead of just in concrete terms. We will practice independent thinking and answering open ended questions with more than one answer.
