Beginner Level
In our class, we will be learning digraphs sh and th and reviewing letter sounds. We will use a multisensory method based on Orton Gillingham. Each day we will complete a Three Part Drill to review letter sounds and read CVC words. There will be a different digraph introduced on Monday and Wednesday. Each will be introduced with a multisensory activity or craft and I will guide students in writing and reading words with the focus digraph.
Learning Goals
By the end of this course, students will be able to know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. They will know the spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs (two letters that represent one sound).

Digraph sh Day 1
We will start each day by checking in with our feelings.
Today we will complete a Three Part Drill: Visual- say letter sound when I hold up the card. Auditory- write letter in sand tray that matches the sound I say. Blending- read CVC words on blending board
We will learn about digraph sh. We will make a shark out of a paper tube to chomp sh words, brainstorm sh words, and write words with sh. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Digraph sh Day 2
Today we will complete the Three Part Drill, review digraph sh with a story and game, and write sentences with words that contain sh. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Digraph th Day 1
Today we will complete a Three Part Drill. We will learn about the digraph th (hard and soft sound). We will make a greeting card using the students' thumbprint with a stamp pad or paint and using the phrase, "Thumbody loves you!" We will brainstorm th words and write words with th. 45 mins online live lesson

Other Details
Learning Needs
This course is intentionally designed to support learners who struggle with beginning reading (Kindergarten to 1st grade level). We will use a structured approach to phonics with attention to multisensory techniques for learning.
Parental Guidance
We will be using scissors to cut a paper tube on Monday of the class. If you don't feel comfortable letting your child use scissors for this they may need your assistance during this part of the class.
Pre-Requisites
Students should be near mastery of letter sounds. We will be reviewing letter sounds and learning digraphs (sh, th)
