TUTORING FOR STRUGGLING READERS I am a trained Orton-Gillingham tutor and former elementary school teacher with a degree in Early Childhood General and Special Education. In tutoring, I will first assess your student's decoding and encoding (reading and spelling) skills, and then use that information to determine which skills I think are ready to learn next. (NOTE: I am not a diagnostician, and cannot determine whether or not your student has dyslexia. I am only assessing reading/spelling...
My goal is that: Students will improve their ability to encode (spell) and decode (read) words and sentences. Students will improve their fluency with reading passages.

We may occasionally use Peardeck - an interactive PowerPoint tool. I send students a link to the Peardeck powerpoints. I do not require students to use an account to access our Peardeck materials. They log on anonymously. We will also use Google Slides and Google Docs. I will share my screen for students to see games, words and sentences we're reading, etc. We will also use Google Jamboard - another interactive PowerPoint tool. I send students a link to the Jamboards. I do not require students to use an account to access our Google Jamboards. They log on anonymously.
