Class Experience
Welcome to our personalized Montessori tutoring program, where we offer individualized one-on-one sessions designed to cater to your child's unique learning needs. Whether your child requires support in mastering challenging concepts, desires to advance ahead of their current curriculum, or needs assistance with homework, our tutoring sessions are tailored to ensure they thrive academically. In this ongoing tutoring class, students will receive personalized support in reading and spelling using the Orton-Gillingham and Montessori approaches. Lessons focus on phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, fluency, and comprehension, tailored to each child’s unique learning needs. 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 Each session is structured around multisensory, hands-on activities that reinforce literacy skills through direct instruction, interactive exercises, and real-world application. Teaching methods include phonics-based lessons, movement-based learning, guided practice, and personalized feedback to ensure progress at the child's own pace. This tutoring class is designed for all learners but is especially beneficial for those with unique learning needs, such as dyslexia, ADHD, or ASD. 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗪𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙮𝙨𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙖 The Orton-Gillingham (OG) method is a structured, sequential, and multisensory literacy approach specifically designed for students with dyslexia. By combining visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning techniques, OG strengthens essential skills such as phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, and reading fluency. Each lesson is delivered with explicit, direct instruction, tailored to meet each learner’s pace and progress. This approach builds foundational skills that help dyslexic students overcome common reading difficulties, enabling them to develop more confident and independent reading habits. 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝘿𝙃𝘿 The Montessori approach emphasizes hands-on, movement-based learning, which helps children with ADHD maintain focus and stay engaged. The class structure is flexible, with interactive activities, clear expectations, and built-in movement breaks designed to support self-regulation and sustained attention. By allowing children to move and work at their own pace, Montessori helps them channel their energy productively. The OG method’s step-by-step, structured instruction also provides a predictable routine, which helps children with ADHD reduce distractions and feel more organized, enhancing their ability to focus on literacy tasks. 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙎𝘿 The Montessori method supports individualized learning, creating a sensory-friendly, adaptable environment for students on the autism spectrum. Each lesson can be personalized to fit the child's unique learning style, whether they need visual aids, hands-on activities, or more space to process information. The OG approach offers a systematic, structured way to teach reading and spelling, using a combination of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic techniques. These techniques engage multiple senses, which supports comprehension, retention, and emotional regulation. A predictable, consistent routine and multisensory materials help reduce anxiety and provide a comfortable, student-centered space where children can thrive. 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥 I am a trained and certified educator with qualifications in both the Montessori method (Casa, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary) and the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured literacy method designed to support reading and spelling development. With experience teaching children ages 2.5–12, I specialize in creating personalized, engaging lessons that build confidence and foster a love of learning. My teaching style is engaging, supportive, and adaptive, providing a structured yet flexible environment that encourages confidence and independence. Learners will interact with me through one-on-one instruction, guided activities, and discussions. Depending on the child’s needs, sessions may include games, visual aids, slides, or hands-on Montessori materials to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.
Learning Goals
Students will identify, blend, and manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words to strengthen their ability to recognize and produce letter-sound relationships.
Students will apply phonics rules to accurately read words by breaking them into syllables and sound patterns, improving their ability to decode unfamiliar words independently.
