Each class will be introducing a new spelling rule concept. C/K/CK Rule: This is often a confusing rule for students but through the Orton-Gillingham approach, it is made fun and kinaesthetic. Buzz off Miss Pill: doubling final consonants in certain words that end in z, f, s, l. Drop the E Rule: this rule is one of the most common errors students make. For example: excite+ing= exciting (the E is dropped) BUT excite+ment= excitement (the E is NOT dropped). Why is that? 1•1•1 Doubling Rule: another common spelling error: For example: fret+ing= fretting BUT fret+ful= fretful So why is it that the T was doubled in fretting but not fretful? Well, there's a rule for that; and that's what they'll learn! Plural: Add s to most words and es to words that end in Z, X, S, CH, SH Silent E Rule: all about long and short vowels Change Y to I: this rule is a tricky one for most students. We will learn a way to remember this common spelling rule. Soft C & G: C and G have two sounds each: soft and hard Week 1: Silent E Rule/Plural Week 2: Buzz of Miss Pill/Soft c/g Week 3: Drop E Rule/C/K/CK Rule Week 4: 1•1•1 Doubling Rule/Change Y to I *PARENTS PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO REGISTRATION* Please note that I am NOT always able to check messages from parents during class time. I will do my best to get back to parents as soon as I'm able to. However, I normally teach 6-7 classes per day and my schedule does not permit me to always be available to check the messages. Your understanding is greatly appreciated. :) REFUNDS All my classes operate under the 'LIMITED' refund policy. Learners can withdraw with a refund up to ONE WEEK before class starts, or within 24 hours of purchase. Refunds are NOT given for withdraws outside this window. Students will have access to the class recording to view the missed portion of the class.
