This class is Part 1 of the Ornithology Research Series. However, learners can take other parts out of order as they do not build on each other. Background knowledge is NOT required for this class. Each week, we will research and discuss a different bird following the schedule below: Week of June 24 - 1. Blue Jay Week of July 15 - 2. Horned screamer Week of July 29 - 3. Southern brown kiwi Week of August 12 - 4. Mountain bluebird 5. Snowy owl 6. Scarlet robin/suggestion 7. Black-necked crane 8. Great horned owl 9. Galapagos penguin 10. Dark-eyed junco 11. Sharp tailed grouse 12. Ruddy turnstone/suggestion After research and discussing the birds above, the class is going to cycle back to bird for week 1. Some of the information that will be included for each bird includes the scientific classification, characteristics, behavior, reproduction, and habitat. The class will primarily be structured as a discussion guided by the learner's research during class. By the end of the class the learner will be able to download the google doc to put together a mini encyclopedia of the birds covered in class.
