Description

Class Experience

1. By the end of the series, participants should have a solid foundation in basic origami techniques, such as folding, creasing, and shaping paper.
2. Learners will develop spatial reasoning skills through the process of visualizing 2D paper as 3D objects.
3. Learners will be able to use the experience to foster creativity and problem-solving skills.
4. Participants will engage with peers who share their interest and practice social skills as they build new friendships.
I have two decades of experience teaching in the middle school and high school classroom, and am certified to teach in Ontario, Canada. Additionally, I have more than a decade of professional experience writing and participating in story development for both documentary and fictional film.

My teaching style is best described as 'coaching for mastery.' I believe every child can move through the skills needed to master a subject if their teachers are able to diagnose where they are and help them map a plan to get to the next level. Origami is perfect for teaching your child the value of mastery and sticking to it.
There is no homework for this class.
Students will need a good supply of origami paper (6"x6" and 8"x8") in various colors. Please be sure that the paper is thin enough to allow easy folding.
There is no assessment for this class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
If students complete the day's origami project, they may be invited to play an educational Kahoot or Blookit based on that week's feature animal.
