Class Experience
Origami is a wonderful art form that people of all ages and cultures have enjoyed for centuries. It is a fun and engaging activity, and provides a wide range of educational benefits that can help children develop important cognitive and motor skills. While your child works through the hands-on art of paper folding, they will also practice the skills of patience, diligence, and resiliency. Having to follow a set of instructions and - sometimes having to back track and figure out what went...
1. By the end of the series, participants should have a solid foundation in basic origami techniques, such as folding, creasing, and shaping paper. 2. Learners will develop spatial reasoning skills through the process of visualizing 2D paper as 3D objects. 3. Learners will be able to use the experience to foster creativity and problem-solving skills. 4. Participants will engage with peers who share their interest and practice social skills as they build new friendships.
I have two decades of experience teaching in the middle school and high school classroom, and am certified to teach in Ontario, Canada. Additionally, I have more than a decade of professional experience writing and participating in story development for both documentary and fictional film. My teaching style is best described as 'coaching for mastery.' I believe every child can move through the skills needed to master a subject if their teachers are able to diagnose where they are and help them map a plan to get to the next level. Origami is perfect for teaching your child the value of mastery and sticking to it.
