Description

Class Experience

Learners will gain experience in listening, following directions, sequencing and taking turns.
As an experienced classroom teacher, I have taught several classes of youngsters to create easy origami folds. I enjoy puzzling through more difficult folds, on my own!
Each learner will need: - several sheets of 6-inch square origami paper (or regular printer paper cut to size) - a marker for drawing facial features - a glue stick - Week of April 25: 8 1/2" X 11" paper - Weeks of May 9, 16 and 30: scissors - Weeks of May 16 & May 30: several wide craft sticks or rectangles of cereal box cardboard, about 8" X 1 1/4" Several kinds of origami paper are offered on Amazon.com, such as this option, at $6.99: Origami Paper Double Sided Color - 200 Sheets - 20 Colors
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Weeks of May 9, 16 and 30: folds require the use of scissors; please stand by on these days to make the cuts for your child, or to monitor your child to ensure they are handling the scissors safely.
Paper folding instructions are sourced from the the book, Amazing Origami for Children, by Steve and Megumi Biddle, and from the website, origamiway.com.
