Origami Art: Advanced Level 3 (Flowers and Boxes)
Class experience
During this course, students will be guided step-by-step to create their own Origami flowers and boxes. Students will use their hands to follow a specific set of steps both verbal, visual and textual prompts in a sequence (procedural text) to develop cognitive development and fine motor skills. Origami fosters a positive growth mindset. Children set a goal and work hard to achieve a visible result. Students are transforming a 2-dimensional square piece of paper into a 3-dimensional object...
Students will need scissors, ruler, markers or colored pencils, square colored or plain paper (approximately 6in x 6in or 8.5 by 8.5). Paper can be cut from standard 8.5 x 11 paper or Origami paper can be purchased at a local craft store or on Amazon (Amazon Basics Origami Paper, Assorted Colors, 200 Sheets for about $7.00). If possible, please pre-cut or purchase at least six, 6in x 6in or 8.5in x8.5in squares to be used during class. Size doesn't matter but the paper has to be a square.
A parent may need to be available to assist younger students, students who struggle with following directions, or frustrate easily. Origami can be challenging.
