Beginner Level
GPS is great and all ... But in this course, we will learn about orienteering - the process of navigating with a traditional map and compass! We'll learn how to read a map, the basic parts of a map, as well as the different types of maps. Then, we'll learn all about the compass: the parts, how to use it, how to read it, and how to help someone else use it! Finally, you'll send your own friend or family member on a scavenger hunt to find out if you are the skilled navigator you've been training to be - so, let's get started!

In this lesson, we will learn not only the parts of a map and how to read a map, but also the different types of maps. 60 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
All About Compasses
In this lesson, we will learn about the different parts of a compass and how to use them. 60 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Map + Compass = Navigation (Part 1)
In this lesson, we will learn how to use a compass to navigate with a map. 60 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Map + Compass = Navigation (Part 2)
In this lesson, we will go outside to practice using a map and compass for navigation. 60 mins online live lesson
