The first and arguably most important step of orienteering is learning how to use a compass. In this class, we will learn the following: -Parts of a compass and their importance -How a compass uses magnetism to operate -How to follow a bearing I give them -How to find the bearing of various objects in their room -Why compass skills are still important in the year 2022 ***All students need to bring their own compass to this class. They will be given an optional homework assignment to do in a field or their backyard.
