Class Experience

We all have dreams of goals and new habits that we want to achieve. However, not all of us are able to reach those goals! Why do some people succeed with goal setting while others do not? The secret is in your WHY!

In this winter camp/class, we will talk about goals, why they sometimes work (and often do not) and how we can do a better job of setting goals that are meaningful. Learners will learn how to determine their "why" or reason for having a goal and how to write an action plan for achieving that goal. We will break our goals down into daily habits that we need to practice and learn how to monitor our progress toward these habits and goals. We will then create a vision board to help us stay mindful and focus on our goal each day.

We will also learn how to use an important tool to help us organize our time and our life: a bullet journal! Bullet Journaling is a fun and useful way to organize your life. Bullet Journals are customized calendars created by you! In addition to a calendar, your journal will have space for taking notes, brainstorming ideas, tracking habits, drawing and more! Bullet journaling is an effective organizational tool that works for a variety of people. It is particularly effective for those of us who may have struggled with organization in the past. In the course, we will learn what Bullet Journaling is, why it is helpful and how it can help you organize your time. We will take a look at illustrations of various bullet journal templates, styles and outlines. We will discuss the pros and cons of each and even come up with our own ideas. Then, we will put our new knowledge to work as we create our own Bullet Journal!

Each class consists of an interactive teacher-led lesson with time for learner questions and discussion. The lessons will guide learners in the creation of their goal setting, bullet journal and vision board creations. In addition to the class meetings, learners have the opportunity to interact with each other in our classroom discussion area to share struggles, successes and ask questions. I am also available throughout the week to provide feedback, answer questions and assist in the implementation of the skills we are practicing and learning.

Our lesson schedule is as follows:

Winter Camp Schedule:

Day 1: Mindful Goal Setting
Day 2: Bullet Journal Basics/Setting up your Journal
Day 3: Next Level Bullet Journaling: Habit Trackers, Personal Pages and More!
Day 4: Vision Boards

Regular Multi-Day Class Schedule:
Week 1: Mindful Goal Setting
Week 2: Bullet Journal Basics/Setting up your Journal
Week 3: Next Level Bullet Journaling: Habit Trackers, Personal Pages and More!
Week 4: Vision Boards
This class will be part discussion and part teacher led instruction. Students are encouraged to ask questions and share ideas throughout the class. While no one will be required to speak or type in the chat, I love to hear your ideas and questions, so please share them! If learners want to share their goals, we will talk through them together and help each other develop our action plans. However, if your child would rather listen to the information and discussion without sharing, that is fine too!

I have taught in both the traditional classroom and online environment for over 13 years. I love working with all learners but have the most experience working with teens.

As both a teacher and mentor, I have helped teenagers and adults set and reach their personal and academic goals. I have also taken many courses, both personally and professionally, on goal setting, mindfulness and related topics. I'm thrilled to introduce this concept to young learners and help them implement it in their own lives.

I have been bullet journaling for several years now and I have been amazed at how much it has helped keep more organized. It has even increased my productivity! I'm thrilled to introduce this concept to students and help them implement it in their own lives.
