US Grade 5 - 8
The students will learn the OREO method to write an opinion essay. I will explain the method to them, and then brainstorm some opinions, using "Would You Rather" type questions, using Kahoot! We will look at a written opinion essay written in an OREO style and find how it follows the pattern. Then, we will write a class opinion outline together. Finally, the students will have a chance to write their opinion outline from a "Would You Rather" prompt. If there's time, students can share what they have started with the group!
Learning Goals
The students will learn a method on how to write an opinion essay that they can apply any time they need to write an opinion essay in the future.

Supply List
I will provide students with the Kahoot! information--be ready to play! Students will either need another device to play on, or they can play the Kahoot! on the same device. However, they will need to be able to split the screen so they can see both my screen on Zoom/Outschool and the Kahoot! address that I give. I will upload an OREO outline in pdf that they can print and have ready to go. If no printer is available, they can easily write it out on a piece of plain paper.
