Welcome to Oreo Moon Phases! In this class we will learn about the phases of the moon and will create an edible display of the moon phases using Oreos! This will be an interactive class where the student interacts with their peers and teacher discussing their knowledge of the moon phases. We will discuss the moon phases like true scientists through observing moon phases, discussing and asking questions about the moon phases, and recording our investigations. No prior experience is needed....
Students will better understand the phases of the moon and be able to identify the moon phases visually.
I have been a teacher of science for 5 years.
Materials needed: Oreos (approximately 8 Oreos needed) Materials optional: butter knife*, plate *The butter knife is optional but I do ask for safety reasons that parents are present in the same room if student is using a knife.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
